Paul Verveniotis

Paul Verveniotis has been deeply involved in maritime operations and instruction since the 1980s.   He has taught thousands of students all aspects of basic and advanced sailing and seamanship, heavy weather tactics, piloting, electronic navigation, offshore racing, damage control, passagemaking, and regulatory requirements.

Paul has juggled technical and maritime work for his entire career.  After attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, he worked as a Senior Aerospace Engineer for the U.S. Navy.  As a registered mechanical professional engineer, he held executive roles in design and construction of global advanced technology projects. Paul also co-founded the world’s first corporate high-speed commuter ferry company with clients including Facebook and Genentech.

In addition to his work at TRLMI, Paul is also an active commercial mariner and works as master on luxury yachts for corporate and private clients.  He also regularly delivers yachts throughout the U.S. West Coast, Canada and Mexico.  Paul is currently a Qualification Examiner and Instructor in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and he evaluates the seamanship, boathandling, navigation and other skills of coxswain and boat crew personnel.

Paul is an avid big game and waterfowl hunter, and is a two-time U.S. National Freedive Spearfishing champion.
