Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC) Refresher is a two-day course designed for mariners who previously held an endorsement of STCW PSC (A-VI/2-1) endorsement and have NOT completed one (1) year of approved sea service within the last five (5) years.
Mariners successfully completing TRLMI’s Proficiency in Survival Craft (PSC) Refresher (TRAINRL-749) course will satisfy: The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) continued standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.613(b)(4) and the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats-Limited (PSC-Limited) standards of competence required by 46 CFR 12.615(b)(4) for mariners who have previously held a PSC/PSC-Limited endorsement under STCW Code Section A-VI/2 but cannot meet the requirement for 1 year of sea service in last 5 years; STCW Code Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 04-14(Ch-2); AND The practical demonstration requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman, PROVIDED this training was completed within one year of the date of application. The sea service requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(2) and the written examination requirements of 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman must be met and are not part of this approval / course.
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to take charge of the preparation, embarkation, launching, and recovery of survival craft and be able to manage a boat under oars, or motor and take charge of an inflatable life raft. The course lessons will include but not be limited to:
