The objective of this course is to instruct the mariner in the areas relevant to Bridge Resource Management and application of leadership and team working skills. The course is designed to assist professional mariners in gaining knowledge of BRM principles and proficiency through the practical application of those principles. Discussion will be facilitated to promote effective use of all available resources that will enhance navigation safety. Emphasis is on the BRM behaviors necessary to achieve effective teamwork and how to minimize accidents caused by human error. TRLMI’s Full-Mission Bridge Simulator is used extensively to apply techniques and behavior learned in the classroom.
The bridge resource management requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(vii); 46 CFR 11.319(a)(4)(vii); 46 CFR 11.321(a)(3)(iv); and Section A-II/1, Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010; AND The leadership and team working skills requirements of 46 CFR 11.309(c)(1); 46 CFR 319(b)(1); and Section A-II/1, Table A-II/1 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010; AND The leadership and managerial skills training requirements of 46 CFR 11.305(a)(3)(iv) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.307(a)(3)(iv) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.315(a)(3)(iii) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.317(a)(3)(iv) and (b)(1); and the use of leadership and managerial skills of Section A-II/2, Table A-II/2 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010.
