Assistance Towing Endorsement (TOWONL) Online

This four (4) hour U.S. Coast Guard Approved course satisfies the requirements of 46 CFR 11.482(b) to add an Assistance Towing endorsement to any national officer endorsement as Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) or Mate or Master on vessels of less than 200 GRT. This endorsement is required if you will be engaged in towing a disabled vessel for payment. This endorsement authorizes the holder to engage in commercial assistance towing within the scope of their license.

When you are finished with the online course you will take your proctored USCG Approved final exam IN-PERSON at one of our approved locations. Our approved testing locations are currently only in: Alameda and San Diego, California;  Honolulu, Hawaii.

Class Requirements:

You have up to 4 weeks to complete the online course starting on the date that TRLMI sends you your course log-in email. THERE ARE NO EXTENSIONS past this 4-week time frame. Upon completion of the online course, you MUST complete your final examination in person at one of our approved testing facilities. Our online course final exam testing locations are currently only in: Alameda and San Diego, California; Norfolk, VA; Honolulu, Hawaii. We test by appointment only.

Once enrolled, you will receive access to the Online Portal within 2-3 business days via email.
